PRIVACY STATEMENT

This Privacy Statement sets out how the Institute for Governance & Leadership (hereinafter: ‘IGL’, ‘Institute’, ‘we’ or ‘us’/'our') processes the personal data which you provide to us or which we obtain through our website(s). This Privacy Statement was last amended in April 2024. We may amend this Privacy Statement from time to time.

 

1. Who is responsible for processing my data?

The Institute for Governance & Leadership (IGL) is responsible for the data processing within our organisation as described in this privacy statement. It is a privately held oganization registered at the National Dutch Chamber of Commerce under the number 91460298. Our postal address is Parelhoenstraat 23, 3815 AE Amersfoort, the Netherlands.

Our data protection officer will ensure that your personal data is processed carefully, securely and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

 

2. Which personal data do we process?

IGL processes the following categories of personal data, offline as much as possible, depending on the way in which you use the website and associated applications, or other communication:

- Name: first name(s), initials, surname prefix(es), surname, preferred name, title;
- Contact details: address, postal code, place of residence, country, telephone number, e-mail address;
- Optional gender and date of birth; 
- Language and communication preferences; 
- Financial details: bank account number/IBAN, credit card number, VAT number; 
- Registration of participation in training and coaching events; 
- Electronic data: login details and passwords.

 

3. What are the purpose and legal bases for our data processing?

Your personal data will be used only for the following purposes:

- to enable us to offer our services to you based on a contract with you;
- sending newsletters or other electronic messages;<
- creating links between our website and social media networks;
- internal control and corporate security;
- implementing or applying laws and regulations.

We will process your personal data on the following legal bases:

- The processing is necessary to safeguard a legitimate interest.
- You have given permission for the processing of your personal data. You have the right to withdraw your permission at any time by e-mailing us.
- The processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

 

4. Will my personal data be shared with third parties?

We will never sell your peronal data. Sometimes personal data will be shared with third parties to enable us to offer our services to you, such as stated in point 3, when 1) it is necessary for services provided by third parties, such as external IT-service, accountants or payment providers, or 2) if you give us permission to share it or 3) when we are legally obliged to do so.

As the data controller responsible for securely processing of your personal data within our organistion, however, we are not responsible for the processing of your personal data by such third parties as stated above.

 

5. How long will my personal data be retained?

Unless the law specifies a specific retention period, we will keep your personal data for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes stated in point 3.

 

6. How will my personal data be secured?

IGL will take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss and any kind of unlawful processing. However, in case of an incident, we will notify you as soon as possible as well as the appropriate government authority, and we will immediately take emergency security measures to protect your data again.

 

7. How do I exercise my privacy rights?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides you with the right to access your processed personal data and under certain conditions with the right to rectify your personal data if it contains factual errors, the right to erase your personal data, the right to restrict the processing of your personal data, the right to portability of your personal data and the right to object to the processing of your personal data. If you wish to exercise these privacy rights, you can notify the Data Protection Officer (DPO) of IGL at office@governanceleadership.org

Please be aware that you will be asked for proof of identity to verify that the request has been submitted by you and to enable your request to be processed.

You also have the right to submit a complaint to IGL and the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Dutch DPA) concerning the processing of your personal data by IGL.
